Reception School Trips
Reception spent two lovely mornings out of school, one at Agro Jardin garden centre and the other at Nagueles park. We went on the school bus to the garden centre where we were able to plant a plant and learn about how to care for the many different types of plants and trees from all over the world.
IT Presentation
Francisco Gómez Espigares, pupil of Aloha College for 13 years, visited school again to show pupils of Years 7 and 10 his new interactive programme “Audience Response Systems”.
Year 5 Trip to Malaga
On their trip to Málaga, Year 5 pupils enjoyed visiting the most famous sites – the Cathedral, the Fortress and the Castle – a great way to support their “Sociales” studies!
Year 4 Trip to Ronda
As part of their Sociales programme, Year 4 pupils visited Ronda’s streets and sites, including the Bandolero Museum and the Mondragón Palace, and were able to inspect the flora and fauna of the Ronda mountain range. Their behaviour was even better than usual!
Year 2 trip to Selwo Adventure Park
On Thursday 13 May, Year 2 went on an educational visit to Selwo Adventure Park in Estepona. The children were very excited to see such a vast array of animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, reptiles, birds and many, many more. We particularly enjoyed being driven over the rough terrain in our trucks. We saw an exhibition of falconary and were astounded by the size of the birds of prey.
Year 6 trip to Nerja
Year 6 pupils are studying the Prehistoric age as part of their Sociales curriculum. To find out more about some of the most important aspects of life at that time, they visited the Nerja caves. The trip was a great success and enjoyed by pupils and teachers alike.
Year 2 Assembly
Our assembly “Giraffes can’t dance” taught us an important lesson. We have learnt that when we really like something, we can make extraordinary and fantastical things happen.
Dia de Europa Project
Year 10 student Clara Kristensen recently represented both her school and her country, Denmark, at the recent inauguration of the Dia de Europa youth project led by the mayoress of Marbella, Mrs Maria Angeles Muñoz. This project involves students from schools across Marbella, who come from a variety of European backgrounds, working together to create a ´Guia de Valores para la Juventud Europea.´
IGCSE and IB Exams Begin
Aloha College Year 11 and Year 13 pupils are at a critical stage in their school career. IGCSE examinations started on 11 May and IB on 4 May. We congratulate our pupils on their hard work over the last few months and wish them the very best of luck in their results.
Sports Day KS1 and KS2
Junior School held its Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Sports Days on 30 April and 6 May respectively.
IB Visual Arts Exhibition
On Monday 26 April the Palacio de Congresos in Marbella was host to a fabulous exhibition of different forms of art created by our sixth-formers over their 2 years of IB. Each pupil’s work had been examined in situ by the IB examiner, curator at the Reina Sofia Art Gallery. They Mayoress of Marbella, Angeles Muñoz, opened the exhibition with words of praise for Aloha College’s strong position in the community, and for its constant encouragement of pupils’ talent and creativity. All those present agreed that the SNAPJAM exhibition, prepared by Sophie, Natasha, Ana, Philip, Jaime, Anita and Marta was an inspiration to all.
