Year 7
Exploring the theme ́natural forms ́ pupils have also been inspired by the work of Artist Gillian Ayers creating colourful abstract paintings. Working with soft pastels pupils have created observational drawings of shells. Inspired by Gillian Ayers
Developing new skills in joining techniques and manipulating clay, Year 7 have also created fantastic imaginary monster clay sculptures.
Year 8
Recently, pupils in Year 8 have been inspired by Op Art. After learning about the work of Bridget Riley, Victor Vasarely and Joseph Albers, pupils worked in groups designing and painting their own large scale optical illusion paintings.
Previously, pupils were inspired by contemporary illustrators including Ralph Steadman, Eric Carle and Quentin Blake to create an illustrated concertina book. They worked with words, objects, scenes and protagonists. Book Illustration Project
Pupils have also studied the Art of Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol. Working with soft pastels pupils have created large observational drawings of crushed cans. They have also created 3D clay can sculptures. How to Make A Clay Can Sculpture
Year 9
After researching Pop Art and the work of Claes Oldenburg, pupils have designed and created their own Pop Art food sculptures.
In previous work inspired by the Swiss Sculptor Alberto Giacometti, pupils have created Modroc figure sculptures based upon movement.
Also, pupils have explored the role of text in Art. Inspired by the work of Ben Eine and Myra Myerscough, pupils have created word lino prints and dictionary page inspired drawings.
Year 10
Exploring the theme ̈Me and My Environment ́ Yr 10 pupils have created large acrylic paintings and pastel drawings based upon the practice of scanography. Also pupils present a variety of clay sculptures, drawings and lino prints that explore individual themes.
Year 11
Year 11 Pupils develop a portfolio of work on individually themed titles.
In this gallery pupils present a range of paintings and sculptures that explore a range of artistic styles, influences and techniques.
Year 12
Year 12 pupils began their IB course with the starting point ́Dreams ́. After keeping a dream diary, pupils have created imagery that further develops the theme on a more personal level. The artworks displayed deal with the idea of distortion, emotions and natural forms.
Year 13
In the Year 13 IB portfolio, pupils present a selection of work that they have been inspired to produce based around a theme. Themes of projects from our three pupils this year have explored the following areas: 1. Animal dreamscapes, Memories and faded imagery 2. Nightmares, fear and the human form 3. Terrorism, Pathways and linear perspectives.
