Taking responsibility for their own learning
Year 3 is a very important stage in a child’s development as they move from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2.
It is a time where increased independence and taking responsibility for their own learning is encouraged.
Children are working with increasing confidence and should stay on task for longer periods of time, with a growing concentration span.
The children enjoy a complete learning curriculum. Typically, they will display a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning.
The children are taught in their class groups for all subjects. Learning is differentiated according to ability, so teaching can focus directly on each child’s needs.
Year 3 is a time where English and Maths continue to dominate the curriculum, as the crucial concepts and skills of these subject areas form the basis of all subsequent learning.
