On 21 February George Winding, an ex-pupil of Aloha College graduated in 1997, returned to “base” to talk to current pupils about his expertise in the recruitment industry.
Aloha College is celebrating its own Andalucia Day on Friday 25 February, starting off with a delicious breakfast of bread and locally-made olive oil. Most of this day’s activities will be related to Andalucia’s special day, and we hope the children will mirror the Andalusian flag by dressing in green and white!
The Year 10 musicians were fortunate enough to be invited to watch a rehearsal of the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra at the ‘Teatro Cervantes de Malaga’.
Over 40 Aloha students from Years 10-12, accompanied by 3 French teachers, went to see “Le Jour de la Marmotte” by the Recursos, Haz Teatring theatre company in Malaga, which consisted of four actors acting in several roles during the show.
Early in the spring term, year 5 paid a second visit to the city of Malaga; this time to visit the museum that is dedicated to the work of the world renowned, locally born artist, Pablo Picasso. On arriving in the Plaza de la Merced, the children were able to view his actual place of birth and trace the steps through the squares where he spent his early childhood.
The commitment and effort of the 38 Aloha Students who sat their LAMDA examinations has once again been well rewarded, as evidenced by the outstanding grades they have just received for the November examination session. In order to achieve these results many students gave up their lunch times and stayed after school to prepare their examination pieces.
As part of the school’s commitment to develop competitive sports, last Friday 11 February our Key Stage 4 Soccer Team enjoyed a friendly, although exciting, fixture against Laude San Pedro.
If Europeans are to be “united in diversity”, we need to be able to understand languages other than our own.
On Thursday 10 February Y6 parents saw a presentation on the residential trip planned for their children in April to the Doñana reserve. Parents’ minds were put at rest when they saw the careful organisation that had gone into the trip.
