Aloha College pupils, together with their siblings, parents, cousins and friend enjoyed an extra-special day out on Saturday. Parents may have had to get up earlier than usual for a weekend, but they were greeted by our lovely PTA mums and dads on the coffee and cake stall, where they could recharge themselves before taking part in the sports and fun games. The little ones had a whale of a time on the adventure playground, had their faces painted and watched in awe while the animators tied balloons in the shape of any known or unknown animal. Mr and Mrs Scariolo, president and vice-president of the charity in aid of which the event was held as well as being Aloha parents, joined in the general fun. Exhausted parents and children were then able to sit in the shade for lunch and chat with their friends, or mingle and make new friends. We’ll be repeating next year!
In May Year 7 took a trip to a beach near Riviera del Sol as part of their fieldwork for the Key Stage 3 Science Checkpoint course.
Recently Year 8 went on a school trip to the ‘Sur’ Newspaper office in Malaga. We all went on the bus and arrived after about an hour at a plain building. No one would have ever guessed that inside was a multimedia studio with offices for writing newspaper articles, a radio studio and a filming studio!
World Maths Day is an online competition that challenges contestants to correctly answer mental arithmetic questions at breath-taking speed. Although the competition took place this year during our Spring Half-term, a number of students in Year 7 and 8 still took part as representatives of Aloha College while on holiday. David Miladinovic from Year 8 took part once again and managed to improve his already impressive record by achieving a phenomenal second place IN THE WORLD in the 11 to 13 age group. Well done again, David!
Y8 student David Miladinovic took part in the Estepona Tennis Championships and came first in his category (Alevin). This is only one of David’s recent sporting successes. Well done, David!
On Thursday 12 May, Year 2 went on an educational visit to Selwo Adventure Park in Estepona. The children were very excited to see such a vast array of animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, reptiles, birds and many more. We particularly enjoyed being driven over the rough terrain in our trucks. We saw an exhibition of falconry and were astounded by the size of the birds of prey.
Every year the children at Aloha College participate in this fun and exciting day.
Patricia Malagón Pérez, a year 3NOS pupil, was chosen to be a maid-of-honour in a ceremony which took place on 14 May in the Alameda Park in Marbella. Patricia will play an important part in the festivities leading up to 11 June, the day of Marbella’s patron saint, San Bernabé. We hope that Patricia and the rest of our pupils enjoy our town’s special celebrations.
