A recent Model United Nations conference took five Aloha students to the beautiful university city of Leiden in Holland. Our students represented Morocco and Guatamala on five UN committees, including the Security Council, the Human Rights Council and the Special Committee for Healing the World. The conference saw Aloha students involved in three intense days of diplomacy, negotiation and policy making as resolutions were drafted, debated and finally voted upon. Committees were small and well organised and students commented that they learnt a great deal from the experience both as MUN delegates and as visitors to a foreign country. As one of our students commented, “We learned how to heal the world even though we´re not professionals, if we work together, we can move mountains!” (Driadi Nelson, Year 10)
