On the morning of Friday 11th October, Year 9 students took part in an exciting enterprise activity called “Chocolate Challenge”.
The activity was provided by Futurewise, a company from the UK that helps and supports students in many International Schools to plan their careers effectively.
Students were placed into teams in the morning and allocated roles such as managing director, finance manager, marketing manager etc. Having been provided the challenge of devising a new chocolate brand, they were then asked to work out how they were to finance and market it effectively. The morning ended with all teams “pitching” their concepts and products to Mrs Batchelor, Mr Roth and Mrs Del Aguila. The winning team developed a brand called “Dark Secrets”, which scored top marks in all areas. However, all teams devised excellent products and all judges were extremely impressed.
The aim of the activity was to allow students to work as part of a team in a corporate manner, developing key skills such as communication, numeracy and problem solving. Futurewise was very pleased with all students, commenting on how engaged and innovative they were.
The winning “pitch” will be presented, along with certificates, during the next Key Stage Three assembly, scheduled for the 15th November. Parents are more than welcome to attend.
