Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic few days at Sierra Nevada where, for some, it was their first time ever seeing snow or being away from home. The energy that the whole group emitted was extremely positive and infectious from the second the bus pulled away from the school. The behaviour of all was impeccable at all times and was commented on by the ski instructors and also shop owners. It was wonderful to see the children showing great responsibility for themselves, their belongings and rooms as they worked together to ensure that they were ‘the best’ at all times.
Throughout, the teachers and monitors were so impressed with the attitude and determination of all the group, especially those children who had never been skiing before. This was particularly evident on the first morning when, wearing their boots and carrying their skis, we had to queue and wait for nearly two hours in order to get on a gondola that would take us up to the ski runs. The children were split into groups depending on their skiing experience and enjoyed two days of skiing with their friends at their ability. Everyone joined in and helped, praised and encouraged others resulting in a memorable experience for all.
