Our girls played the first week of November and our boys, the second.
From Malaga to Gibraltar a variety of international schools participated in a girls’ football tournament at SIS. Our under 19 girls’ football team played a round robin against various schools – they played with an excellent level of skill, teamwork and enthusiasm. They gelled more as a team with every game and showed excellent sportsmanship to both their teammates and the opposition. They were victorious in all their matches, they were however robbed of the overall victory in the second half against EIC to come 2nd overall. This is still a fantastic achievement and they should be extremely proud of their performance. A special mention goes to Alejandra Gómez Espigares in Year 11 who was voted by the opposition’s coaches as overall player of the match. Well done girls, it’s been a pleasure coaching you!

On Wednesday 12 November the U-19 boys’ football team went to Sotogrande to play in the International Schools Tournament. This being the biggest tournament of the year, the level of competition was very high and there was no such thing as an easy game. The team of Nacho Bailo, Eugenio López, Fabio Amann, Josh Riley, Fran Reed, Mario Magantier, Sean Honeyman and Sam Morelius played extremely well and can be proud of what they achieved. The tournament proved to be very close among all 8 teams and overall we were placed fourth – this was by no means a bad result but we did leave feeling we could have won the tournament as we played out a 1-1 draw with the eventual winners. We came away knowing that we will be able to do even better next year!
