Boys’ Tournament
Last week the Under 13, Under 15 and Under 19 Boys football teams headed to Sotogrande to take part in the International Schools Football tournament. This is one of the biggest tournaments of the year with over 40 teams participating from 13 different schools.
There was huge success for the Aloha College teams with the U19 team being crowned champions.
The U13 team also did very well by finishing the tournament in 3rd place. They only conceded one goal all day and after drawing the semi final 0-0 they were unlucky to be beaten on penalties.
The U15 team did not have quite so much success but still did themselves proud by winning and drawing in more games than they lost.
Well done to all involved on a fantastic effort and performance.
Girls’ Tournament
The week before, 40 girls from Y6-13 represented the school in the International Schools football tournament also held at Sotogrande. There were 4 teams in total, 1 U13 team, 1 U15 team and 2 U19 teams; each team had shown dedication and commitment to training in the previous weeks and entered the tournament with immense motivation to succeed.
The U13s were amazing and won their 1st 5 matches, and only conceded 3 goals in the whole tournament – they just missed out on winning the semi-finals with a last minute goal. They finished 3rd overall, an amazing achievement.
The U15s started to show their true football skills and started to beat their opposition in their last few matches. They know what they need to work on as a team to improve for next time.
The U19s had a spectacular day and got a well-deserved place in the final. Victory was in the bag as they were 1-0 up until the last 10 minutes where they conceded and unlucky goal. Unfortunately the pressure got the better of them in the penalties and they finished in 2nd place.
All of the girls had a fantastic day out and did Aloha College proud in representing the school. Well done, you´re all superstars!
