Last week both sections of Aloha College, Primary and Secondary, came together for Maths Week.
In Secondary School, events included: a giant game of Risk behind the library on Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes; a talk on Game Theory by Leonardo Franco from Malaga University; a cross-college investigation into probability and how it influences success rates in popular dice and card games, and a special assembly.
In Primary, they held a Maths Open Morning last Tuesday with a record attendance of parents joining Maths lessons in all year groups from Nursery to Year 6. The children were excited and extremely proud to share their mathematical thinking skills and didn’t even mind two maths lessons in one morning!
The patience of the older pupils as they explained mathematical concepts to their younger children was outstanding too. They thank Mrs Elliott (Head of Mathematcis) for leading this initiative, and most importantly, congratulate all children involved.
