In class, KS3 students discussed the value of learning languages, shared their own language and culture with one another and learnt some greetings in a variety of different languages from around the world. Students brought in snacks from their own countries and had the opportunity to try these and donate money to charity at the same time. These were sold by the Y12 helpers.
KS3 and some Y10 students in house teams, also enjoyed lunchtime treasure Hunts working out cultural clues and having to say something in French or German to get the next clue which lead to the edible treasure! There were also various competitions during the week including a photo, collage and cultural bookmark design competitions.
Some students took part in a video competition and the winning students were awarded prizes in the Languages’ Week assembly which took place on Friday 29 th September. On this day students were invited to wear national costume or clothes in the colours of their country’s flag. During this assembly the Language Quiz took place and it was won by Sevilla.
Congratulations to all students who took part in this week and made it such a success!
