The children had lots of fun practicing for our assembly, which was based on the book ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. We were learning about transport and travelling to different countries in IPC. This story was about a snail who longs to see the world and hitches a lift on a whale’s tail. Together they go on an amazing journey, past icebergs where the children slipped and waddled as penguins. Then off they travelled to Hawaii and our children danced a very beautiful dance.
The snail feels very small in the vastness of the world. But when the whale is beached in a bay, it’s the tiny snail who saves the day. Everyone works together to save the whale and they continue on with their journey. The children were excited to show this story to their parents and they gave an amazing performance, even when we had a technical glitch the children continued like professionals.
