Last Wednesday we had the priviledge of visiting the Science Department of the National Police Force, in Malaga and go behind the scenes to learn how the forensic police work. Students stepped into the role of a CSI investigator detective as the first task presented to them was a simulation of a crime scene. They were shown how to follow a methodical “ruta segura” in collection of physical evidence. They then took their own fingerprints which they kept as souvenir. Other areas of the Science Department visited included the ballistics unit, criminal assets unit and forgery of documents; students enjoyed a workshop on techniques in human investigation too.
This visit truly met the aim to support our students’ studies in biology and chemistry and to inspire our students in careers in science.
