ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
Once again, thank you for supporting our attendance and punctuality policy: the number of children arriving late on a daily basis has certainly diminished. I know it’s tough, but please remember, if your child arrives after 9.01, he or she is late.
MUN (Model United Nations)
I was privileged last Sunday to spend a couple of hours at Sotogrande International School watching the most articulate, intelligent and smart pupils ever: they were the Aloha College MUN group of Secondary pupils. Please read all about the Conference in Mr Escobar’s letter below.

INTERNET SAFETY – Gooseberry Planet
On Thursday evening teachers and parents from all over Málaga listened to a presentation on online safety. It reminded us of the dangers and how we need to protect our children. It was informative, useful and, at times, frightening.
SANA CATERING
The positive feedback on the new catering company SANA is overwhelming. Pupils are continually telling us how much they enjoy the meals this year. We are all delighted with their response.
PACKED LUNCH
Children who have packed lunch must bring it with them in the morning. For health and safety reasons, we cannot allow deliveries during the day, either to the guard or to reception. Please support us on this, thank you.
If your child forgets his/her packed lunch, we will make sure he/she is provided with a school lunch (the administration department would follow this up).
WORLD PEACE DAY
Once again we enjoyed a beautiful assembly led by the pupils from our Eco committee. The message they shared was thought-provoking and we thank all our pupils for their willingness to take it on board.
WHITE BEACH PARTY
The PTA social event at Bono Beach was a wonderfully enjoyable evening, I am sure the many parents who attended will agree. Thank you so much to the PTA for organising it. Mrs Salmon will tell you more in her newsletter below.

Dear Parents,
Your children’s classteachers are looking forward to meeting you on Monday’s Parents’ Evening, organised via the new platform ‘Meet the Teacher‘. These short appointments are for you to do just that, meet the teacher and share any information about your child. There will be an opportunity for you to meet subject teachers in the Spring Term. All classteachers will be available in the Dining Hall and there will be a crèche for FS-Y2 children in room 105. KS2 children must join Don Sebastián on the Top Pitch while their parents are in a meeting. Please respect the 7 minutes time allocation to avoid unnecessary queues.
Next Thursday 4 October is Poetry Day and we shall be encouraging children to write a poem entitled ‘The Best Part of Me‘ to help them further develop a positive self-image. The talk homework is aimed at provoking a self-realisation that we are all special in some way.

SECONDARY SCHOOL
I would like to share with you two successful events we have had over the last two weeks in the Secondary Section of the College. Once again, this shows the calibre of our students at Aloha College.
Mr Kemp took eleven students to represent the school at Sotogrande’s first MUN conference. Representing Chad, Brazil, Norway and the USA, our students joined delegates from other international schools from across Spain for this four-day event. The topics under discussion ranged from the eradication of poverty to the dangers faced by female migrants. Our students spoke with great eloquence and worked with others to amend and pass resolutions. MUN is not just about winning debates. It is about persuading others and reaching a consensus on issues of global importance. As usual, our students excelled. Four Aloha students were awarded “Best Delegate” for their respective committees: Danita McIntyre, Olga Okhotinskaya, Antonio Léon and Rosie Rainer. A huge “well done” to all eleven delegates for their passion, energy and commitment.
The PE department has had a superb start to our sporting season. Aloha College U19 basketball teams brought home Gold, Silver and Bronze in both boys and girls’ competitions. This is the first time Aloha has hosted the senior event and it was an intense spectacle from start to finish. The boys won their final match versus Sotogrande (23 – 12) and the Girls B team lost their final versus Sotogrande by a single point 10 – 9. The Aloha Girls A team managed to secure bronze with a 14 – 4 final won over Swans. It was a great day, well supported and played in a fantastic spirit.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Kemp and Mr Toal for leading these events.
