ECO Committee Assembly 8 March 2019

On the 8th March, the Eco Committee presented to the whole school on their recent achievements and our work as an Eco School to improve our environment.  Mia Spendlove read the thought provoking speech of Severn Cullis-Suzuki from the 1992 Earth Summit and the students also listened to the speech of Greta Thunberg at the UN this year highlighting the same issues; 12 year old girls separated by more than 25 years but caring about the same issues.  Several Eco Committee members spoke on the work of the Eco Committee in reducing plastic, palm oil and energy use in the school and our plans for the future.  Florence Sargent spoke about our beach cleans and the work of the students involved in the ´Climate Detectives´Project for the European Space Agency, a challenging and innovative scheme led by Dr Walker to generate science research on the climate change issue.  The assembly was inspirational.  Well done to all involved!
