Year 5 performed their assembly entitled The Emerald Forest. The theme was the destruction of the Amazonian rain forest by profit-hungry developers and how the richness and tranquility of the jungle is protected, in the story, by the animals that live there. The emphasis was on the visual and auditory senses and the costumes were brightly coloured and stunning. The songs were rousing, and the dances performed by birds, butterflies, snakes, monkeys, sloths and bats were varied. The message was very well conveyed and the audience were given information as to how they could help in their own small way to save the rain forest and also the resources of the world.
