The audience was captivated when Year 4 delivered their strong message about plastic pollution in our oceans. We learnt that 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into the oceans every year and that by the year 2050, there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish! These worrying facts mean that we all must take responsibility to reduce our use of plastic. Through songs, dances, speeches and actions, the children taught us that we must follow the three 3s: reduce, reuse and recycle. We saw examples of some excellent work being done in our school and local community such as using water bottles instead of single-use cups and no longer using plastic cutlery and plates in the school dining room. The final message from Year 4… let’s take care of our wonderful world.
