Key Stage 1 children are at an exciting stage of their educational development when they are beginning to become more independent in their thoughts and are eager to learn.

Age: 5 – 6 years

Year Groups: Years 1 and 2

At Key Stage 1 the subjects taught are English, Mathematics, Spanish, PE and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC): all play an important part in the children’s learning.
Building on their experiences from the early years, the further development of the basic skills of English and Maths are taught through activities and practical involvement, leading to the acquisition of the key concepts.
