Y7 Trip Music Beats on the Beach

Year 7 spent a fantastic morning at Estepona beach performing their Samba drumming performance pieces along the paseo marítimo on Thursday 19th October. Prior to their beach performance, the students had been working in their music lessons for 6 weeks learning all about samba rhythms, and planning their own drumming compositions.

The students were nervous to be out in public at first, but they students soon relaxed and became more confident. There was a buzz and excitement in the air as passers by stopped to listen, and the students soon drew in the crowds who enjoyed the rhythms. They enjoyed some fantastic improvisation sessions led by Ms Octave as well as small group performances from each class. After the energetic performances, the students left feeling accomplished and feeling very proud of themselves.
Years 9 and 10 Interschool Football Tournament

We are delighted with the performance of our Key Stage 4 footballers for their impressive performance at the Costa del Sol International Schools Football 7's tournament on 11 October. Both of our teams exhibited outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the competition, with both our girls' and boys' teams securing third place in the tournament.

In particular, the boys put on a great display, narrowly missing the final after a closely-fought match that was ultimately decided by penalties. We are incredibly proud of all students' dedication, teamwork, and skill displayed both in preparation and on the day.
These performances are a reflection of the supportive community we have at Aloha College Marbella.

We extend our gratitude to all their students who participated in the tournament and our thanks to the coaches, especially Pedro and Alexei in Year 13, who have been with them every step of the way. Their efforts and determination have not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to more successes in the future
Year 12 Theatre Trip to London

From the 11th to the 14th of October, our Year 12 IB Theatre students embarked on a profoundly enriching academic and cultural journey to London. They wholeheartedly immersed themselves in a three-day intensive official IB Theatre workshop, collaborating with their peers from eight prestigious international schools across the globe. Throughout this event, they delved into the fundamental aspects of the course, including the staging of play texts, the art of devising theatre, and the exploration of theatre traditions and theories.

During their time in London, our students had the extraordinary opportunity to embark on a behind-the-scenes visit to the renowned National Theatre. Additionally, they savoured two professional theatre productions at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and the Old Vic Theatre. This excursion not only provided an educational insight but also fostered a unique social experience. Our students cultivated new friendships, shared their interests, and exhibited their skills, resulting in a remarkable and enriching cultural exchange.

Observing our students venture beyond their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and demonstrate their utmost potential during this journey fills us with immense pride.
Teacher News

This month we have seen all of our wonderful staff busy participating in their own learning! Staff had a very thought-provoking and informative CPD session on Critical Thinking and how we can encourage students to develop these skills in the classroom. Thank you to Mrs Byrne, Miss Keys, Mr Kemp and Miss Richards for preparing and delivering the training.
