As we approach half term and look back over the last few weeks of learning in school, we can certainly say that the students have been incredibly busy again!

We were privileged to welcome Sharifa Nabaggala who touched the hearts of our students by sharing her rich experiences about life in Uganda. She delighted our students by teaching them to make traditional African crafts. She left us all with a great desire to visit her beautiful homeland and become involved in projects which bring hope and justice to our global neighbours.
EYFS News

Our youngest learners in Nursery have been busy using Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle during our P.E. sessions. This early writing programme has been helping us with creating marks. We have been having fun using dance and large movements to help us develop muscle control. Our current learning includes round and round, over and under, curve, zigzag and spiral movements. Everyone enjoyed practising the learnt movements with colourful chalk, making it a popular area during choosing time. It has been so much fun to practise everything we've learnt over the last few weeks!
We were also delighted to welcome parents into school for some fun filled Stay & Play sessions this month. In Nursery, we enjoyed lots of gross motor play outside, from navigating across tricky obstacles, shooting balls through hoops and joining in circle and parachute games. In Reception, the focus for our Stay & Play was phonics, with parents participating in some literacy learning as well as exploring classroom provision together. Thank you parents for your enthusiasm and energy, it was such a pleasure to have you.
KS1 News

What amazing superstars we have in Year 1! We couldn’t be prouder of every single student for their amazing assembly, Superhumans. Some potential theatre stars have already been spotted! It is incredible to think that these students are already so knowledgeable about staying healthy in both body and mind. Year 1 have also been busy cooking pancakes which was linked to our English lessons. We read Mr Wolf's Pancakes and then wrote a list of what we needed to buy in order to make some of our own pancakes. We really enjoyed making them and then wrote up the instructions in the correct order, using verbs to describe the actions in each step.
In Year 2 we have been working really hard with our reading and writing skills, we are becoming more creative with our descriptive writing and had fun exploring some new spooky vocabulary! In IPC we have been learning about the history of flight. We had great fun constructing and flying our helicopters. In Maths we have been using a range of manipulatives to support us with our addition and subtraction facts.
KS2 News

Mrs Freeman’s drama club performed four spectacular poems from the book Dirty Beasts by Roald Dahl in the KS2 assembly which was just fantastic. In Year 5, students have shown a wonderful interest in IPC as they have become detectives over the last few weeks. As part of their work on the IPC unit, Investigators they have been exploring a series of techniques that might help catch criminals!
Teacher News

This month we have seen all of our wonderful staff busy participating in their own learning! Staff had a very thought-provoking and informative CPD session on Critical Thinking and how we can encourage students to develop these skills in the classroom. Thank you to Mrs Byrne, Miss Keys, Mr Kemp and Miss Richards for preparing and delivering the training.
